Did you catch "Halo" by Alexandra Adornetto

Halo hit the shelves yesterday. Noooo....not the video game; the new book from Alexandra Adornetto, who published her first book, The Shadow Thief, in Australia at the age of fourteen. Halo marks her U.S. debut.

While it does have the now-standard storyline of a mortal in a relationship with someone who something else, it sounds like it has potential to go in new directions.
